I purchased my first home (condo) in 2003 in DC. I was aware of Debran Beavers McClean as a fellow alum of Wake Forest University and also we are from the same hometown in North Carolina. I am probably similar to a lot of people in that purchasing the first home can be stressful, especially in a market like Washington. When I originally started looking, I was not under any major time constraints. Debran was very helpful but also very patient since it took me approximately 7 months from our original meeting until I finally settled on a condo. I lost on two contracts prior to finally finding my condo. Debran was a huge help from the beginning when we wrote the contract all the way to the settlement date. It was not an easy road from the day we wrote the contract. We drafted the contract on the day that I was leaving to go on a vacation in which I would be difficult to reach. I was across the country when the seller’s agent presented the contracts and we worked out the kinds via cell phone and ratified the contract via fax while I was in a restaurant in Utah. Things became more difficult when a few previously unknown items arose during the condo doc review period. Debran was extremely helpful in working between the sellers and myself to iron out all of the issues that arose, which were negotiated up until the day of settlement. I was extremely impressed with the service that I received throughout the whole process and have recommended and will continue to recommend Debran to future homebuyers.
